First Adventure in Linocut Printing
Anyone who pays attention to whatever I do knows most of the stuff I do is digital pieces made on Adobe Illustrator but I decided to try something more analogue. I saw a fiend post himself doing these prints and I decided I’d have a go myself.
It’s Lino printing with soft cut Lino. I used a tester kit with black ink. Soft cut comes double sided and both textured and flat sides can be carved in to.
As simply as possible process is to draw out your design on to paper of the same size (150mm x 100mm), cleaner the lines the better. Press your drawing into the Lino block and use a pencil to rub the drawing into the block. Draw over where the graphite didn’t press into the block we’ll. Then use a tool to carve into the block. The test kit cane with a thick and thin blade. When you’re ready to, roll ink over the carving and press into into some paper. Do a few test prints on scraps before you use good paper. When pressing be as even across the whole surface for a better quality print.
